New Website for Des Moines International Airport
A modern and user-focused website aimed at connecting people to the information they need
Des Moines, Iowa (October 2, 2020): The Des Moines International Airport launched a new website aimed at enhancing the user experience by connecting people to the information they need while also highlighting the popular destinations travelers can visit.
“We set out to make a website that was user-friendly, providing the information needed quickly and easily,” said Kayla Kovarna, Communications, Marketing and Air Service Development Manager. “We also wanted people to know the great destinations they can go on a nonstop flight, spending less time traveling and more time relaxing, so we developed a robust nonstop destinations page, too.”
Through heatmapping and analysis of the old website, users visited the flight status pages for arrivals and departures most frequently, followed by the parking page. The Des Moines Airport Authority team partnered with Blue Compass, a local web development company, to build a new website with easy access to priority pages plus a fully integrated dashboard that provides arrival, departure, and parking information on any page you visit.
The nonstop destinations page includes links to cities travelers can fly nonstop along with links to the airline booking pages that serve those airport markets.

The website maintains the real-time availability on the parking page, the live shuttle tracker, as well as an enhanced contact us form. The new website also boasts an email notification system for new content publications like monthly passenger statistics and request for proposals.
